saw him live when my mother bought a concert ticket when I turned 16. Unforgettable moments. He will be rememberred through his music whil he walks in his Blee-oo HeaVON.

A sad loss , he had some of the 20th centuries most memorable songs. He's probably up there saying to God "I'm gonna sing and the bands gonna play"

A real legend. And I don't say that lightly. Remember seeing him on Any which way you can. This man never had a single day of a scandal, had a marriage that lasted a lifetime, and sang beautifully from the 1950s until now. God bless you Fats.

It didn't dawn on me for years how Chubby Checker got his stage name - deliberately copying the Fat Man.
Never quite the same legendary status though
