One of the things that has been slowing me down on the Belgian Lancer has been this French Infantry Officer.

A resin casting from FeR with very little clean up required, once that was done a warm soapy bath, who doesn't like one of them, followed by a couple of coats of Halfords grey primer.

The figure is painted purely in acrylics, variously from SC 75, Vellajo, Army Painter, Citadel and the metallics from Dark Star, thanks Vikingbob for the heads up, they are ace.

The only medium I used whilst painting was the AK Ultra Matt Varnish which is brilliant, it takes the shine out of everything, even I'd hazard to guess Kevs winning smile!

Great work.

I also recently got a bottle of that AK Ultra Matt Varnish and it really is amazing stuff. Much better than the janky Vallejo matt varnish for brush application.

A very nice piece of work. The red and blue combination looks great and he has a toned-down, weathered appearance that works really well.

Cheers Cyrill, it's a very nice figure to paint. I use the AK stuff to thin the paint with rather than water, it gives an almost velvety quality to the finished product.

Wotcha Simon

You kept this quiet ......or did I miss something !......a nice version of a great figure , do like that red trousers and the sash with the way the boots have come out ...very effective

Thanks for sharing

Feel free to enter another piece in the competitions.....

We are all scarred now ....you and a soapy bath ..lol ...as for my winning smile ......sure AK would work as long as it doesn’t affect my stunning good looks ..

Looking forward to seeing more from your bench

Very nice indeed, you handled the blues really well. The whole figure and base look great, excellent work all round.

Nigel, Steve many thanks gents it's a lovely figure to paint, especially being resin now and not white metal.
