WIP Critique Flat from the wood

During my holidays I could paint some figures. Here my first. As you can see it is a flat (after a long without trying flats) It is ready but now I am searching a good background. Two possibilities here.

What do you think?

Very nice, i like it alot. I think the first one, he looks like the sort that resides in a deciduous forest.

I'd go with the first background.
The only thing I'd change is to pull it in closer to the figure.
