All,

I'm thinking of purchasing the following 2 kits from FM Beneito:

MD/8 Guerra Zulú, 1879 (MV/11 + MV/12 + otra figura)

md-008-1.jpg

MD/17 Isandlwana, 1879 (2 figuras)

md-017-1.jpg

Has anyone done either of these before? What is the quality like?
What is the quality of FM Beneito like in general?
Has anyone used their online shop before? How does it compare to other manufacturers (like Andrea's) online stores?

Thanks
Rudi

Hello Rudi

Although I haven't done either of the Beneito vignettes you show, I do have some experience of Beneito pieces. They are generally well sculpted although they do require some careful attention in the clean-up stage. The fit of parts is generally good and I have found them to paint up well. Some of their subjects are interesting and different.

As for on-line ordering, I usually use Historex Agents, who keep Beneito and most other better known stuff. Can't comment on Beneito direct, but I suspect they'll be OK.

Hope this helps

Best regards

Phil

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the quick reply and the positive and constructive feedback.

My reason for wanting to order direct from FM Beneito is simple... they advertise on their site that if one orders 3 kits, you only pay for the 2 more expensive kits... the 3rd one is free.... can't really argue with that... :)

Joe, I have no experience with Benito kits (surprise surprise). I really like the second kit. The first kit is nice but one thing about it bothers me. The two figures dragging the casualty look as if they are both heading in different directions, which would probably prove painful to the chap they're dragging.~Gary

Gary,

I agree with you... something was bothering me about the vignette, and now that you mentioned the lads heading in different directions I realise what it was... I wonder how easily this can be corrected?

This figures are basically just slightly altered versions of these:

MV/12 Sargento de Infantería inglés, Guerra Zulú, 1879

I have purchased several Benito kits in the past, and I've been fairly satisfied, albeit some of their products from what I hear are not up to par.

Cheers
Roc. :)

I recently bought two of their 54mm ACW figures. One is the Stonewall Jackson.
It's a very nice kit with a very good likenesses (two heads in the kit) of Jackson.

The cast and sculpt are not up to my experience with Pegaso but I am satisfied.

Quality-wise I wouldn't hesitate, I've had a couple of their's and they've always been alright.

They can be a big big, probably nearer to 60mm rather than 54mm but I've never had any problems witht them. They do a nice variety of subjects as well - always good to see from a manufacturer.

well have in stock like 10 -12 Beneito figures. Most of them to high standards and some have interesting stuff for bases . Havent used their online shop but the offer is challenging !!!!! Go for it

... but which would also convey the sense of terror the 24th and NNC must have felt on January 22nd. I kind of liked that about it. Seems very plausible that in a panic, something like that might happen, especially when being hit from all sides.

Just a perspective. :)
I agree Robert. At first, I thought it looked odd myself, but then when I thought about it, I thought it was entirely possible for them to grab the poor fellow and start running in different directions. I think it works either way.

Well fellas, you're gonna love this. As part of my job I am trained in casulty evacuation in hostile environments. We are trained to go in slightly oppposite directions at the time of the inital lift of the casulty. The reasons are two fold. 1. It is better for your own back to do so (people are heavy!) 2. It gets the casualty off the floor that little bit quicker, hence over any obstacles ...

Although I reckon it was just coincidence in terms of that kit........
