Now to a slightly out ot topic question, you mentioned you used a wargames-related book as a source for German armies of the period. Where could I find this book? Any webpage? Is it possible to order it by mail?
Hi Dani,

I tried to e-mail you through pF but would not go through. :(

Here's the link to On Military Matters:

Hope this helps. ;)

Jason,

Additional questions... I have checked the web, and I see there are three books, 1-French, 2-German, 3-Unspecified. Do you know what does vol. 3 one cover? Do you have all three? Would you recommend all of them?

Thanks,

Dani

Dani,

I only have vol. 2 and 3. Volume 3 covers the south German confederation and French republican armies.

I don't recommend volume one. Save your money. Osprey books has 2 books on the French army 1870-71. Highly recommended (y)

The wargame painting guides are only good for colors of the various Prussian collars, piping and cuffs on the uniforms.

I'll post a snippet of a page to show you what your looking at.

Check this site out as well~

Click on INHALT then go to Deutsche Uniformen Knotel v. Letzius

Dani,

Here's a snippet from volume 2. Thats what you get!

Not the greatest illustrations, but very descriptive.

Hey Jason!

Progressing nice my friend!

I have a question about the guys left arm, well more the shoulder area. It may be the pics but its looking a little awkward, maybe it is because the sheep skin vest , but it looks like the arm is bending up too far down, like the shoulder is a tad low, or where the arm connects to the body. Like I said, it may very well look different in person. Im not trying to be a pain, just curious as it just don't look right to me, but then again who am I to judge your work.

The rest of the figure is superb though with some of the cleanest sculpting I've ever seen, Keep up the great job!

I have got the same impression as Anders, I believe you should add volume to the right shoulder. Even if the jerkin is sleveless, it would be affected by this raising too. When you raise your arm beyond a certain level, the corresponding shoulder raises also. If you do not build up this area, the figure looks like an "action man" doll's articulation (this is a very common problem, there are even a lot of COMMERCIAL figures guilty of this fault).

I hasten to say, it could be the photos are misleading, of course.

Very, very well done,Jason  ! The guys are right about the shoulder,it does look a little "off".Fix that and ,WOW,a fantastic figure is born Taking notes,my friend.Cheers.

Thanks for the "heads up" Dani and Kenneth on the arm. (y)

Appreciate the kind words Jim and Joe

I bulked up the left arm a little.

A tremendous difference Jason. It looks natural now. What did you have to change, the shoulder and arm?
