Hi Guys, yes, I'm back
. To get serious, thank you all for the get well soon messages, they were a very warming homecoming.
Since going into the NHS System last October, I have had a surprisingly positive experience. At first I went in for a couple of weeks antibiotics, then I found out I needed a minor amputation. Piece of catke, our soldiers suffer much worse. Then the infections started. By Christmas I was in intensive care in a coma with sepsis. When I came out of the coma I couldn't move. Not even my fingers. At first it was "Oh Christ, that's it, it's all over" then it turned to "Damn this it's NOT going to beat me".
That's when you find out what the NHS is all about. The only one to blame is the problem itself, it's no good raging at the nurses or the doctors, they're just doing everything they can for you. And it doesn't matter where they come from or what their orientation is, they just want to do a good job looking after their patients. They all deserve the George Cross.
There are some very funny instances, for example when Bill aged 91 demanded sweeties and was told not till he had had his breakfast. At this point Bill swore he'd had his breakfast at 7.10, this was at 6.15. However, there are times when being overworked and understaffed, they haven't got the time to stop and chat, and being the only one on my bay that was (almost ?) compus mentis , I re-learned how to draw and if I can figure out how I'll put up my drawings in the lounge forum.
I don't doubt there will be more problems, and so the battle goes on but thank you all again for your support.
Best wishes, Gary.
