An excellent pair of figures that make me think that the finished article will be something really special.

I knew there was something missing....No issues with the painting of this pair, only thing I can see is the first fellas hand is missing.
Thanks Mike, that's much appreciated. I feel like I am making progress, I think my flesh tones are improving and I'm getting more comfortable with acrylics in terms of glazing and blending.A lovely pair & am sure you’re remaining ones will be a well done Nigel.
Really seeing growth in your skills with these too mate!
What are you most happy with them?
GREAT job !! Congrats !!First couple of figures are done, six left to go. Room for improvement in a number of areas but these will be dirtied up and will be part of a bigger scene, so minor paintjob issues hopefully won't be an issue....

The big thing I am struggling with is contrast. I've been trying to get a bit more contrast in my figures but I find when I try to push the "top" highlight too much I am ending up with white stripes on the figure. Steve Ski made some interesting points on another thread about "realistic" vs "high contrast" approaches and I think I my style is more suited to a "realistic" approach.
BTW your book is never far from my sideAlthough I can't replicate your approach, I find the colour mixes very helpful and also there is tons of useful information in there.
What's the book and is it still available please? Always looking for good reference books in the world of figure and bust model painting.
I totally agree, Gary. Even us oilers find Mike's book incredibly valuable.Mike's painting book was a great reference for all my figure painting work since I got it.
Cheers,
Gary
