WIP General Bonaparte 1796 - 1797

This figure from Alexandros models is 75mm and in white metal. Sculpted by the very talented Richard Galicek.
He's captured a good likeness in my opinion.
This has been sitting in my GA for sometime, so I thought I'd better get on with it.
The fine detail is certainly going to be a challenge for me.

I've painted the face using AK 3rd generation acrylics, I really like the tones in flesh set.
For the hat I've used scale 75, Graphite grey for the basecoat, for the highlight I added some Cantabric blue, and shade with black.
As for the braiding I experimented with something I've not used before and with luck got a good result.
Scale 75 black was added to Kimera Yellow oxide to dull it down a little and applied as the base colour.
Then I gradually built up thinned layers of Soft tone army painter ink. once dry I added some detail with Vallejo Yellow ochre.
As you can see I'm in the very early stages, and I want to paint the detail on the collar before going any further.
I've marked out the basic detail with walnut, and I'll use a similar mix for the braiding.

Nice decision to get this going , agree ref the sculpt , looks good and I’m sure the quality is as good from Alexandros

Good start with the flesh , the golds a interesting variation to use , going to work I reckon

My main concern at the moment is the embroidery, not sure if my eyesight is up to doing the small
detail. I'm not going to rush, so in the meantime I'm starting to clean up my next project, so's to
ease any strain on my eyes.

I've made a little progress and I've added another piece to the thread to run along side each other.
The Alexandros bust of Napoleon.

I've painted a small section of the braiding to see what how it would look, and wait to see what you
guys thought before proceeding.
As for the bust, It's just base coated at this stage.

The stood up Nap is looking good, the braiding is I assume the same technique, maybe glaze the highlight on the bicorne a bit or is it just the photography/lighting making it look a little Stark?
