After finishing off the embroidery, I applied a basecoat of SC Mojave white to the Breeches.

Thanks Guys, I appreciated your comments.

I've been so impressed with Colin's use of inks, I thought I'd try and go a bit further with them
and try and shade the breeches with them.
I used 3 different shades from the Army painter set. Soft, Strong and Dark.
Following this I picked the highlights with Mojave White, then added a top highlight with white.

That looks really good Malc. Could you explain how you used the inks - did you dilute them (eg with glaze medium) or use them straight from the bottle?

First, I really appreciate your SBS documentation on this project. Second I respect your experimentation regarding using the inks. I’ve taken many of Jim Rices’ seminar in which he extols the virtues of using them, and have seen how they can really enhance the depth of a model. Thirdly, I haven’t seen very many “larger scale” painters use the Army Painter triad of washes/inks, but can see the benefits of doing so. I recently returned from the Las Vegas Open (LVO) and saw firsthand how the fantasy genré painters use inks and washes to their advantage.

Thanks again for the time it takes to make this SBS and sharing it.
