My next project is Alexandros’ tour de force bust of General of Division Eduard de Colbert-Chabanais, one of three brothers who served as cavalry generals in Napoleon’s Grande Armée. This is a ground breaking sculpt from the hands (or computer) of Ebroin Song. It was a Christmas present from my most excellent wife Lynne. I’m amazed that Alexandros got all of that casting into such a tiny box without breaking or warping anything.
I have already sculpted and painted this officer in a larger scale (~1/5) but nowhere near the quality of the current offering. I have also modelled his brother Auguste, most recently as a limited edition mounted figure from Il Volto del Comando.
The Alexandros bust looks to be based on this portrait.
I assembled and primed mine. I blocked in some colour before working on his eyes. I usually paint the whites only at this stage but apparently that’s creepy according to Lynne and my buddy Colin Semenenko. So in deference to them, I completed his eyes first thing.
All painting will be as usual in artist’s and hobby acrylics, metal powders, and acrylic inks.
