One area of modelling in which I have a fleeting interest is model railways (railroads). I tend to keep an eye on several blogs etc and one in particular carries a great deal of sense with regard to one's own involvement in a hobby and attitudes to others within the hobby. These statements are pertinent not just to model railways but also to many other forms of craft/art/modelling/call it what you want.

A great piece, Geoff, and it's so blatantly obvious that the very same sentiments are so currently topical here.

While I get his point and agree it's a valid one, I'm also of the opinion that if you ask for advice/a question then you also have to take the rough with the smooth answer wise. I always ask for comments on my WIP and it's always been helpful whether it's mild or harsh. Like everyone I balance out the answers with the personality/experience of the person giving it at the end of the day none of us are above a critique of their work by anyone but it helps if you can see what the person responding has done or can achieve themselves
