Dear guys this is my initial posting on the site, as I've been too thick to work it out up to now.
I welcome all comments. Except sarcastic ones from those with an SE postcode.

cheers

Well. I would not want to make any assessment as it is so small. Can you post larger pics.

I do like your photo background. What is that?

Keith

Hi Anthony

I didn’t see this one at the club on wednesday, maybe you can bring it down there so we can have a good look, it looks pretty good from what I can see from these rather small images...

I want to be able to see more of this one.....

Dave

Many thanks again fellas, your comments are as always very encouraging, and apologies again for my lack of knowledge in this department.

Keith, you mention the background - nothing to it!

All I did was get some old sheets of A3 sized plain paper. With this I got hold of the cheapest water colour paints I could lay my hands on. Next I simply experimented, applying the paint with an old sponge. I did about 12 and threw out about half 'cos they were rubbish. But having done it all so cheaply it didn't matter.
It's actually come out lighter than it is in the flesh. I also did some experiments in crinkling the paper whilst it was wet and then flattening it out again. I enjoyed it and it was a fun diversion away from 'normal' modelling.

A very good man is in the process of enlarging the picture so you can begin to belive it's in 54mm scale and not in 10mm!

Cheers guys.

The figure looks great, what I can see of it. Look forward to seeing the enlargements! [I have had the same trouble with pic size and resolution, lighting, etc.]

Jeez that's a nice background! Thanks so much for taking time to explain how you did it. All the good ideas are simple and cheap! I'm going to have to try that next figure I post. My late father-in-law, who was a gifted fine artist, used to say, "Presentation, presentation, presentation...never neglect the presentation."

all the best,
Dan

Here is the enlarged picture. As we can all see, Anthony has done an outstanding job on this figure. Great detail work with all that lace and trim. You also pulled off the leopard skin very well. You need to do some more 54mm figures! You have a "knack" for them ;) .

Thanks for sharing,
Jim Patrick

Wow that is a very good frist posting. Very nice job Anthony. I too like the background but the fig and horse really set it off. :) Regards Brock

Thanks very much again fellas.
It began as a project in early January and was finished last week. I felt about a month ago that I'd lost momentum with it and thought I'd blown it, but got around to getting it back on track.
Figure is in 54mm from Il Fuedo, an Italian firm.
The animal pelt was the first one I've ever done, and for reference I relied heavily on an article in Historical Miniature magazine, issue 34. A piece on an Alexander The Great figure (of all things!). As a result, I would advise anybody considering an animal pelt to find a good picture of what you're aiming for before even picking up the brush.
I have just found the scabbard. I lost it underneath a pile of CDs and substituted an old spare one...
Until the next one....cheers guys

PS, I'll bring it to the club in a couple of weeks.
