That piece is by my friend Jim Muir. The title is "The Final Battle".

See his sight at:

www.jamesmuir.com Look in the Indian War or Civil War section of his site.

He has done some stuff for the cavalry museum at Ft. Riley, KS and was a cavalry reenactor for a long time. He, Troiani, & Ron Tunison were in a group of historical artists a while back. I think Troiani said he used Jim as the model for one of his NB Forrest paintings.

Hi Dan - I shall necessarily give for you the reference to some interesting sites and tables, it is necessary for me to search for some time in mine pc.

Ken Sullivan - !!! - thanks for the explanatory.
Also an excellent{a different} opportunity to tell for Ken Sullivan - " your sculpture of horsemen, horses, western, statement of a pose........, - are fantastic and an example for many! I have many photos your works, especially I like " Ride It Out ", it is a lot of air and open space, fine movement and all sculptural part of me very big impression!
With the big respect for your creativity!

Also allow you to ask for many and many (everything), to show some SBS the order of modelling. On a site is " Works In Progress ", I for a long time look on the horseman " Sioux Warrior " but one photo not enough information.

I am confident, that your process of modelling has big knowledge and an example for all!
I shall be always happy to hear your remarks for my modest work.
Yours faithfully.

Sergey,

I'm am very surprised that you are familiar with my work. Thank you for your compliments.

I admire your enthusiasm, clarity, & dedication to sculpting equine figures as well as teaching others. I think your critiques are insightful and clear. I wish more people would listen to you. :D I would love to talk shop with you regarding horse sculpting. We have a lot in common. Please email me and I'll send more photos.

As for teaching, I've heard it said that those that can, do, and those that can't teach. With that in mind, I'll be teaching a week-long class in July in Kentucky under the auspices of the American Academy of Equine Art on the Human Figure in Equine Art. I hope to have a live model and concentrate on the human figure especially as it relates to horses. More info to follow. I think there is space for only about 10 people & the cost will be around $450 for the week. Watch www.aaea.net for more details.
