Starting Alexandros’ excellent Gouvion St Cyr bust (200mm). Part of their excellent and growing Napoleonic leaders series. This one is from 2019.

Acrylics and inks.

Initial flesh tones…lots more to come.

Nice to see some heavy metal on the go, really nice bust and the face is coming along a treat.

Cheers Simon

Thanks Simon. Ebroin is my favourite bust sculptor and this series was made for my area of interest…i.e. Napoleonic + personalities.

Great blending of the skin tones so far.
Comparing the bust with the illustrations posted by Nap, it looks to me that the neck is a bit short? Very little of the stiff collar showing?

Thanks Henk. It’s an optical illusion. The bust is leaning back and chin down a bit so the red cuirass lining obstructs his neck in a front view. It’s superb sculpt IMO. Check out these box art pics.

And a bit more progress. Still working his face.

Oh, I see. That explains.
Just noticed the eyes in this picture, they are excellent. How are you doing the metal of the cuirass, metallic paints or NMM?

I’m not a big NMM fan except on 28mm’s and some decorations/awards. I admire the skill but think it’s mostly a trend. It works for photographs but not for 360 degree show or collection viewing.. I have a lot of metallic paints. Probably starting the Golden Pro Liquids and staining it with diluted ink washes. Hopefully that works.

Yeah, that's my approach too. Metallic paints look better 'in the flesh'.
