This figure was sculpted and produced for Hart's Models, Kingston Road, Ewell in 1993/1994. Hart's shop closed in 1995. I have managed to obtain a near complete kit in white metal, and would like to obtain moulds and new castings. In order to do so, I would like to contact the sculptor beforehand. Does any-one know who sculpted it, and how I may contact him?

Many thanks,

Mike

I am aware of piracy, especially w.r.t. figures that come from East Europe and the Far East and which are obviously taken from figures which are still in current production.

What is the situation with remoulding figures that have been out of production for years when the parent company/producer no longer exists?

Thanks for your advice,

Mike W

I am torn between two principles. The figure has been o.o.p. for over fifteen years, and if not recast, will be lost. On the other hand, it was sculpted and cast in the first place and I would not wish to pirate another's work.

Not sure who sculpted it, i worked for harts models at the time, i think it was sculpted by John Tassel.. regardless, i think your on sticky ground recasting it unless you can find the owner of the copyright, i`m guessing that its still owned by tony who had harts models. Unless he sold it off
I think its a shame but its the way it goes.I think your o.k if its for your own use and not for profit or resale of either the master or the castings.
good luck

I can understand your feelings, but it's still recasting. Better thing to do would be to pay a sculptor to make a similar model. With a better horse, BTW. It would be an update of the kit and you wouldn't be considered a recaster for the rest of your life.

If we put our minds to it, we could all probably think of past figures that would be good to see again. But time moves on
so we should perhaps just let them go.
