Also been working on the General, his helmet has a plume which has been pyrogravured as has the fur turban, just need to add the gilt peak trim and hos flowing horse tail decoration.

The collar to the habit has now had the lace added with Magicsculpt, I can't sculpt laurel leaves and the like in this scale, so I living with a suggestion of the shapes. Hopefully it will look OK once painted.

He has his Generals sash around his waist with the knot and fringed ends hopefully looking wind swept and interesting. I added his coat tails and thickened his thighs a bit. I just need to do the arms and sword scabbard and I should be able to start the second figure

It looks smashing.
"Windswept and interesting ", that was Billy Connolly I think?
Yes it was the Big 'un, before he went all arty farty! How much trouble am I in for that?

I just realised I didn't put any wind effect in his plume, so I either redo it or say it's got silverkrin hairspray in!

Cheers Simon

Historex modelling at its finest, I can only hope that the projects I have in mind will be of a reasonable standard. I think that Simon and others have set the bar too high for me to compete.
Hi Malkie, there is no competing intended, it's all about enjoying the build and painting. It is learning with each project and putting that knowledge to use in the next. We can all learn from each other no matter our standard and appreciate the work of others again with no regard to standard. There will always be better modellers than oneself but for me at least and I suspect many other members of PF, it is the modelling and painting and the joy we get from that, that is the important factor. So just go for it I would love to see your work on here.

Cheers Simon

Malkie,
Simon's 'bang on' with what he has said. It's not to 'compete', but just enjoy. I've only been a member here for a short while and there has been so much encouragement. I am glad that another member got me to join, whilst talking at a recent Show. I am learning [and always will be] so much from PF members around the globe...long may it continue. Please join in and display.
Kindest regards,
Kim

My heartfelt thanks to Simon Briggs and Canterbury Coxswain for their words of encouragement. It is a good many years since I attempted an Historex kit, but I have it in mind to attempt to build some of the lesser known units of the 1790,s a period in which I have developed something of an interest. I hope that in the coming year I may have at least some work in progress pics to show.
With thanks
Malkie

Malkie you are more than welcome and it's great to have another Historex buff in this merry band of brothers and sisters. Look back at my back catalogue of projects, the improvement is down to what I have learnt on here and I was encouraged all the way. The good thing about PF is there is no elitism, membership ranges from the absolute beginner to world class modellers and every model made and displayed is a victory for the hobby.

Love the period you like best, be disciplined and stick to it as long as you can. I started only doing Victorian era British and Empire, yeah that didn't last long!!!

Looking forward to seeing your work.

Cheers Simon
