This is my first post on pF, so let me introduce myself first. My name is Leuk, I registered earlier this year, but didn't post until now. I did found many useful tips on various threads though. The reason that drives me to finally post is because of this exciting bust I got last week. It is a bust of Skottie Young style Hellboy by Luca @ Figuralia (Calvin @ pF). He offers 2 versions, one with horns, one without. I got the one without horns. Without further delay, here is the review:
1. Package
The bust is packed in a small sturdy cardboard box. It is filled with styrofoam peanuts, and the bust parts are each wrapped in their own bubble wrap/grip-seal bag. So there is no chance of damaging any parts during shipping.
2. Parts
The bust comes in 4 parts: the base, base medal, head, and ponytail. It is casted in a dark grey resin. (Luca informed me later he had done only 2 casts in this grey resin, the rest are done in beige color resin) The casting itself is top notch, the surface is very smooth. Apparently, the mold line of the head was sanded away, you can see it in the photo. I am fine with it, as the less work I need to do the better A minor problem is on the ponytail. A small part of it is sanded/filed away. As this is not on any fine detail, it is an easy fix with some putty work. (I don't know if it is a problem with my kit only)
The mold line at the back of the head was sanded away.
Detailed was sanded at the end of the ponytail
And here is a size reference:
3. Service
Luca is very helpful and promptly reply all my emails. Notification emails were sent out so I knew what's happening. I ordered on the 21st and received the kit on the 27th. Now that is very fast, from Spain to Hong Kong.
4. Conclusion
I thoroughly recommend this bust, if you like the subject. As I understand it, it is a limited run only, so grab one while it is available
EDIT: website is here: http://www.figuralia.com
Happy modeling, and hope the recent economic crisis does hit hard on your hobby budget.
Ciao,
Leuk
