Hello. I am new here and signed up to ask a question. It's a little long winded. And if it is in the wrong forum please let me know.
My father passed away in December, he was an avid collector of fire engines, Ferrari's, Post vans, dinos and Romans...and a bit of a lot else.
I had to sell off a lot of his collection to pay for the care he needed towards the end of his life, and have a few things left.
I found these painted miniature roman figures in a few boxes and thought I would ask if anyone knew anything about them what they are and if they are worth anything. I am afraid it is not sentimental reasons I would like to know. He left me with some monies needing paying.
If I may I will post the pictures but there is a lot of them. Thanks for the help and my apologies in advance if I have done something wrong.

Hi John

Sorry to hear at the loss of your father and you certainly haven't done anything wrong

Please feel free to put the items in Marketplace and Commissions if you are selling or in this part ...possibly title thread "Anyone help on identification"

It's PF policy that you need 50 posts before selling

People will pay what they think it's worth possibly not what you might wish for

Don't forget

Shipping

Location of items

Payment preferred

If you need any help please do contact me

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking of putting them up on ebay. I wanted some help identifying them. Mostly because, I think my dad painted them and cherished them as they were in his cabinet in the living room...pretty much my entire life. Until he had to move to a care home. I didn't want them going for 99p if they were worth a bit more. I know absolutely nothing about them. Shall I start a new thread for the pics?

Hi John

By all means put them in this thread , PF member Mirosoft is a wealth of information and gas a great knowledge on older figures etc

I will change the title for you to " Anyone identify these " ? If you want me to

Sorry to hear about your father, had to go through similar circumstances last year with my old man.
It would be a good idea to post the pictures up here John as there are a lot of modellers here with a lot of knowledge on older possibly out of production figures. Also you may generate some interest amongst the members here regarding sales. I personally would love to see what you have available as I am sure other would also.

Cheers
Steve

Here they are. There are a few. And if you could change the title I would be appreciative. Thanks again for your help.

I think the medieval/indians are Herald/Crescent, from the 50s, prior to them being made in plastic. I recognise Rose Miniatures and Greenwood and Ball packaging so would place them late 60s/early 70s - as to the rest, I cant help you, sorry - but Im sure there will be somebody who can(y)

Well fig 1 : center Rose, all figures with similar hexagonal bases are Rose, fig 2 : 77mm Serie 77 all with a 3/4 moon base are Serie 77
Mainly all figs with a very thin metal sheet base ( corners cut ) are Lasset ( Greenwood and Ball ) like fig 6, fig 7, fig 14
DSC 0301 is Sovereign
Fig 26 both left are Sanderson like fig 2 fig 10

I would say all Rose painted or unpainted auctioning on ebay I suggest beginning with 6-10£, idem for Lassets and Sanderson, on horse 22-28£ always indicate they are 54mm ( perhaps use the highest price for the painted )
Serie 77 and Sovereign 16-18£ indicate they are 75mm
Herald Crescent are classified as toy soldiers, I don't have any clear idea about price at least 8£, the 2 on horse 30£ but you can begin lower

Put them on auction and see what happen with the prices

You have both been very helpful and I thank you for it. I will pop them up and see what happens.
I am glad in a way. A lot of my dads models where just in boxes in his bedroom, never seeing the light of day once he had bought them. Not that I am saying he didn't love them, he did. but I have had quite a few messages from people who have bought many of his models over the last few years saying things like, thanks as this has filled a gap on my shelf for a very long time or this is a treasure I have been looking for.
Fills me with joy knowing someone is loving his old stuff as much as he did. I of course have had a few kn*bs taking his stuff to resell or one guy bought a corgi Concorde and swapped it for a broken one and sent it back, which I knew but couldn't prove.
Hopefully these will go to homes where they will be displayed and cherished. Anyway my sentimental talk is finished. Many thanks again.
