I was going to wait till I’d taken some better photos to post this but I just haven’t got round to it, and if I wait any longer it won’t be ‘recently completed’ anymore.
I’ve just returned to the hobby after a long lay off (like twenty-five years) and this is the first thing I’ve got done. I work almost exclusively with Historex kits - they’re labour intensive but I love the flexibility they offer. First Empire Napoleonic is my favourite period too and there’s a lot of that at Historex.
He’s a Trumpet Major of the Grenadiers a Cheval of the Imperial Guard in parade dress from about 1805-1807 and probably jogging on down to the Tuileries or something like that. He’s a made from a stock Historex kit but with a Nemrod resin head a good deal of Milliput animation/scratch building. There’s plenty of room for improvement but I’m learning to live with what I couldn’t get right and I’m also starting to think that acrylics might update my rather ‘old school’ oil painting technique.
