A Fixture
I just re-newed my subscription to HM and received issue #51 as my first issue. This one is TOTALY dedicated to World Expo. Gracing the cover is the runner up to Best Of Show "The Spanish" by Kostas Kariotelis.
Steve Weakley has truly outdone himself with this one. Between the 2 covers you will find, in my opinion, one of the top 5 issues EVER released by HM. While that can be debated, you most certianly CANNOT debate that this is the best issue since Steve has become the editor. Of course you'll find some pictures of just a few of the fantastic entries, but more importantly, you'll find pictures of the individuals who attended the show. Also, a first as far as I know, you'll find 6 reviews of the show! Steve tells his version then 5 pF members tell their impressions of the show. Alan Ball, Rob Herring, Steve Mallia (aka: Sleeping Beauty), Ray Farrugia and then some guy who messed up writing his version with this group. His version seemed to stumble and ramble compared to the others (BTW, this "review" was written by ME! ). Everyone told some wonderful stories about the show and the entries but it seems the one thing that impressed these "reviewers" was the hospitality. Each wrote their version seperate from one another and each person spoke of the same thing. Sorta funny how that happened but also speaks volumes about what the average attendee found most important about World Expo. Also, within the pages you'll find pictures of A LOT of pF members and their entries. I was going to go through the magazine and list ALL the pF members who either have their picture in the issue or a picture of their entries. This review got so long it soon turned into an article! I found a different way to express this. Of the 30 pages dedicated to pictures of of and from the show,5 of them do not have a member or their entries on it! Tell me pF hasn't gotten out to the world (and helped make it a little smaller) now! I'll leave you guys with this. YOU SIMPLY CANNOT PASS THIS ISSUE UP!. Buy it now and buy it fast. I personally feel this one will sell out or at least come close to it. It doesn't matter if you were in attendance or not. If you want to see the best of the best as far as painted figures goes or you want to see the faces behind the names, get this issue. Your'e not going to regret it
