As a UK based (part time) hockey fan, I'd have liked to have seen #35 Richter. :)

Great work on the Sharks colours though.

Great paintig and nice, to see this figure again. But please note: It's not an Puchala (a well known sculptor since more than 20 years here in Germany) figure, but a Scorpio Models figure. Made by Markus Eckmann: You can see here: http://www.scorpio-models.com/portal/1-24-Figuren-75mm-Figuren/Eishockey-Torwart.html

Best regards,
Martin

I stand corrected. I bought the figure from Red Lancers and that's how they listed it.

Sorry Meehan, this is the only sports one from them I've seen. I'm surprised there aren't more sports figures out there. I know Pegaso makes a (US) football player bust, but that's the only other sports figure I'm aware of. Aside from the generic sports players I'd think there'd also be a market for famous players from history.

There was a hockey forward being sculpted on this site not that long ago. Perhaps commercial?

Dude - if you can sculpt a guitar jock (and we know you can), you can sculpt an hockey player.

Colin
Challenge accepted! :ROFLMAO: The thought has crossed my mind but I think it may, at this time, be beyond my capabilities. Maybe one day.

Thanx for the vote of confidence

Colin

Wonderful figure, so much activity crowded into one moment.
I think its looking great and am sure your fiance will be delighted with your present.

Aside from a few final touches, the Irbe figure is finished. The pads aren't modeled as the older style KOHO pads but I still used those markings as that is what Irbe wore. All that tiny lettering under the larger KOHO was a pain... but in the end it wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be. I decided to actually tape up the stick. I figured the end result would look a lot better than just painting it to look like it was taped. The ice is painted plasticard covered with still water (mixed with a little light grey paint) and then sanded. I hope you like the end result!

WOW
This guy looks freakin' awesome. Job well done (even if it is the Sharks ;)). With so few hockey figures out there I think it might be time to prime and paint a McFarlane fig just for kicks :sneaky:
Again, great job, the fiance is lucky to get this one.

Cheers

Colin

Great job.

The ice looks awesome. I like that there's a little "Slush" around the edge too.

Great figure, and your paintwork is superb, excellent result.
Well done.

I'm been fascinated to find that one of our local NRL teams in Australia has the same name, and similar logo and colours scheme.
Except here they're covered in advertising.

Thanks, everyone. I was very happy with how this one turned out.

Mark, that's cool. It's even closer to the SJ Sharks current logo (the one I painted was what they used in the mid 90's)

Love it absolutely awesome, I just wish there were more companies that made sporting figures, football, basket, F1 drivers etc
