As far as I know....they have no affiliation with GW....I now use AP in preference to GW....simply because they are better and seem to go further :sneaky:
As an aside....I personally find they have a better 'tooth' for oils.....they shrink tight to fine detail also (y)

What colours do you find most useful and who is the supplier in the UK

Colours I use....
Matt Black
Matt White
Leather Brown
Fur Brown
Wolf grey
Skeleton Bone
Desert Yellow

A few suppliers....
Amazon UK
Firestorm Games
eModels
There are a load more UK sellers a google search will bring up mate :)

This has really got me in the mood for a spot of horse painting, flat of course. :playful: I'm not home till Saturday but I'm already considering a suitable flat mounted figure to convert these techniques to.
Criteria is green uniform and a bay horse.... coming to my v-bench soon.

Hi Ron.
I was looking forward to this and managed to completely miss it.
Great stuff and very helpful.

Thanx bob

Jon it should be in the SBS section for quite some tine so you can always look it up
There is a good bit more to come but the horse will be a week in the prep ,re cleaning , gluing and filling .

Horse near completion , went back in and added some lights and shadows once all was dry , mane is shining a bit but that will dull down .

How do you go about adding the extra highlights and shadow Ron?
Diluted paint as a glaze or a blob of undiluted paint from the tube and blended in with a dry brush? Or perhaps neither of those. :)

Just a little neat from the tube Roger for the highlights and a tiny bit of turps for the shadows all blended with a dry brush . we are talking very small amounts of paint here.
It is more of a feel than anything else . if I am lining then I will use a bit of turps to aid flow .

Thanks Ron, that's how I go about it. I just wondered if you had a different method. It's an even smaller amount on a 30mm flat! :)

Thanks for posting this SBS. I am following now that I found it. Love mounted figures and will try your method on my next horse.

Super SBS Ron,
Some very good tips that I will put to good use on my next Nag.
Many thanks.
All the best,
Keith

Cheers Keith. It is an easy way to paint a horse almost like a self working card trick :)

The MM horses with their head down like this one are the more difficult to do as you do need to get the halter reins in place before painting , it really is a superb casting and one I will do again .

Fantastic work Ron. I'm thoroughly enjoying this and thanks for sharing your techniques. (I mean painting techniques before Del starts to get excited!!)

Cheers

I am planning to go to Ingolstadt - probably driving there on the Friday and back here on the Saturday evening! Got to watch the costs as my dearest SWMBO said it would be ok and that the weekend before I could go to Montrouge!!!! I'm still very much in shock!!! I'm also wary as when she's done this in the past I've got home and there's a new cat or horse appeared...

Where are you guys staying in Ingolstadt???
