Hi Steve
Excellent start on a great figure, would it be possible for you to share the technique you used for painting the black? Nice start on the cross also, really starting to come together, keep us posted on the progress.
Cheers
Tommi

Well Stephen, it's hard to tell you're new at this! Nice start, and the base is impressive as well! Welcome aboard, and hope to see more from you in the future!

Ive just joined Pf too so from one beginner to another beginner (hmm.. really?)this looks great. Is the helmet finished? I love that bright metal against the face and the black.

Look forward to seeing how it progresses.

cheers Mat

Hi all

Hi Matt,

Welcome to PF

I was going to paint the helmet a little darker metal color, but you like it the way it is..HHmmm..Maybe I should just dull it down a bit. I'm not sure if they were that bright back then. Thanks for the input. Anybody else have an opinion on the helmet color, please.

Thanks again

Excellent job Steve. I find it very hard to believe that this is only your second figure though.

Either you're an exceptional natural talent, or a very fast learner. So to be honest, I am a tad sceptical about your claimed "beginner" status.

Hi Steve and Carl

Thankyou for your kind comments.

I really am just a beginner and this is my second figure, that I am slooowly working on.

I have arthritis in both my thumbs and is very painful so I have had to set this aside for awhile, but hope to get back to it soon.
I will try to post more pic's later

Steve

Hi Steve,

This is looking really good. I like what you have done so far.

I have the same figure and I want to paint it too. I just have to finish some projects but I must say that your work is very inspiring.

I'll keep watching your progress.

Thanks for sharing

Hi Steve,

Fantastic effort for only your second figure. I have a couple of tips if you're interested.

Firstly, I'd reduce the amount of white in the eyes by closing up the lower eye lid and adding a bit of red to the inside corner of the eye. You can do this by painting the lower eye lid in your flesh mix colour, and then add a very thin and dilute amount of red to act as the border between the eyelid and the eyeball. This will help to reduce the zombie stare effect and give the eyes more character. In fiuture, rather than use white to paint eyes, use an off-white colour, and save the white for adding highlights and catchlights to the eyes.

As for the helmet, I'd leave it unpainted, but just add a thin wash of black/ brown around the rim to give it a sense of age and depth.

You've set the bar very high with this figure Steve. With such a strong debut, we all expect to see big things from you in the future. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Clarence ,Rinaldo and Dave & Thankyou Tony for your tips on the eyes. I will definately try your suggestion for sure.
