A question that is beginning to perplex me. I am intending to attend the Chicago show this year. I have never attended a major show save WE when it was here in Toronto in 1998. As you may know, I have completed a lot of projects in the last few years and am now wondering if I should only bring along my fave 3 or 4 or should I bring everything I like from the last few years (which could total 15 to 20 pieces). Some are quite large as many of my busts are 1/5. I don't see any limitations on the Chicago site and I don't mind bringing a load of stuff along for my display. I just don't want to be that guy who looks like he has put his whole collection on display when it is not considered appropriate.

Any opinions on a reasonable number of figgies to enter and how old is too old even if no one has seen them?

Colin,
There is no limitation and since they are all from you, only one fee. Try to figure out how much space you will need as bigger exhibits ( boxed dio's, ships, etc.) will be reserved if need be, only to give them the space they deserve. Please bring along whatever you like as it is new to us. The only limit that would be imposed is if you already COMPETED in said show, you cannot compete with that piece again. You can always display it again and mark the card for that piece(s) NOT IN COMPETITION. Are all your pieces originals?
Looking forward to seeing your work in the flesh.

Thanks Bob - mostly original busts but a couple of original 1/48 Nappies, a 1/6 large Ney full fig and a couple of commercial 120's and busts that may or may not make the cut. I will try to mock up my display and measure it. I am guessing about 4' x 2' for a display. Would this be big enough for me to send up a warning?

Cheers

Colin

I don't think so, I'll check. Your originals would go in the Open category while the commercial pieces would go in Advanced Painters which would be two different tables. With so many commercial pieces available there has been a drop off in the open so your work will be a welcome addition.

I would be more likely to keep it all together and tag the commercials not in competition if that is acceptable. Thanks Bob.

Make it an annual event and bring different stuff each year. Don't bring all at once. Would like to see the 1/48 nappies and I will be there.

At this rate I will producing 15 to 20 a year :). The 1/48 figs will make the cut.

Thanks

Sometimes they have a stamp for Not In Competition. I usually just write it across the registration card. Its all to assist the judges.
