Hi there everyone in modellers world. Is there anybody ho can give me an explanation how to paint non metalic metal.
i'm about to paint the silver plaque on the chest of an german fieldpolizei.

Since most NMM is seen on fantasy miniatures it can be very stylised, and most guides come from this side of things. I think it would be better to aim a little higher for a believable effect on a realistic sculpt.

So I would recommend looking at how reflective metal surfaces were depicted by painters in the past, as well as by modern illustrators. Dutch still-life paintings in particular show just how realistically metal can be painted in a painterly way, and that was before they had access to photographic references :)

thanks for the links. How could i forget our dutch still life painters. I will go on the net and take a look on how they approached this subject
