Having recently finished my 95th Rifleman bust I decided to keep the green theme going and mixed up a few different tones. These were used on my version of a stunning new bust, sculpted by Carl Reid and produced by CGS Military Figures. It is beautifully sculpted and the detail is amazing. The animation and crisp casting makes it a bust worthy of any collection.

I decided to attach the arms to the main body, keeping the the head and pelisse separate for painting. A good dry fit is essential before painting. This makes sure everything is a snug fit when you bring it all together ( not damaging the paintwork )

I concentrated on the braiding in small sections at a time, correcting mistakes as I went along. Take your time and I am sure you will be pleased with your efforts.

The last pieces to attach were the hands. The sabre is cast in white metal, which was a bonus for me as I used an old fashioned method of burnishing it with the side of a darning needle
( no painting ) . I was really pleased with the results. Think I'll call this one completed.......

Perfect paintwork.
The laces are awesome.
I cannot paint all parts and glue them together when painting is done.
I always have to start all over again......share your secret??

Hi guys....Viking Bob...Tonton...Dipper...Marc...Huw...Ventress...Brian...Andrew...Dan....many thanks for your comments which are really appreciated...
As far as the green mix goes....( I always paint in oils over acylics and or humbrols)...undercoat on dolman and pelisse...humbrol matt grass green no.80...then after purging the oils on a piece of card I transfer colours onto a plastic plate or take-away carton and then mix with white spirit very sparingly..
oils for green...sap green +viridian + oxide of chrom. careful with the viridian its a powerful colour. Shade with same mix plus blue black...highlight with base mix plus yellow green.. I gave the two different areas a slightly varied mix ..my own choice.... hope this is ok... once again many thanks ...Mike
