This is a little Anzac memorial nearby where I grew up. I used to read all the names, look at how the stone had been carved to look like material draped over the top and the rifles looked to me as though you could fire them. I must have first discovered them when I was about five years old when walking to the local shop back then in the town near a jetty and boat ramp, that was over forty years ago, I couldn't tell what the age of this is exactly, but I have found that the masonry done was by the same company that made many around Queensland at the time which was 1920 give or take a couple of years.

If you've travelled accross France, you have noticed that in every village or town, no matter how small, there's a monument to those who died in WWI, . Here's a link with an interactive map to many of those monuments, with pics and lots of info about sculptors, casters, etc:

Luis that is Fantastic thank you sincerely for posting.
Do you have any statues near you that could make good figure sculpts apart from the poilou monuments?

Hi Peedee,
Please note I live in Barcelona, Spain, not in France. We do have some monuments here and around, but not very figure inspiring ones. Here's one, to a group of so-called patriots who were arrested and shot by the Imperial French forces during the War of Independence, better known to the English-speaking world as the Peninsular War:

There is an interestig little story related to these men. The French agents were chasing them through the streets of Barcelona, so one of them got into the cathedral, got rid of his weapons and tried to merge into the people praying there (to no avail, as he was caught and shot). Well, a couple of years ago, they were restoring the pipe organ in the cathedral when that guy's pistol was found inside one of the organ pipes. It had been there for 200 years!

Mick thanks for taking the time to do this but nothing is showing,

I'll get something up for you and you can retry when you can. I'm guessing it's off your phone.
