As an impecunious student every summer their was
something called 'Jazz in the Park'. Imagine....warm
summer evenings. a glass of beer, pretty girls, and
Harry Strutter's Hot Five.........what a gas !! (Of course
you have to be of a certain age....brown knees, so forth)

I like many kinds of music but the mainstays (especially when painting) are Metal ( classic, power,NWOBHM),hard rock (from Pumk to Glam),Bluegrass,Neo-folk (e,g Wardruna,Omnia etc) and bands that really defy categorization or can fit into multiple categories (e.g Sopor Aeturnus,The Builders and the Butchers,Volkolak).Pop is pretty much excluded unless we are talking about some Mega Names from the 80's (Claus Nomi and the like)

Really nice, eclectic taste. Love the Builders and the Butchers self-titled album (especially Bringing Home the Rain and Black Dresses) - Wardruna and Danheim are great as well. Back in the day Amon Amarths "Versus the World" was my favourite album ever, though my taste softened a bit in recent years.

Great album! As is The Avenger.

What a great read this thread is…..I relate to a lot of it, well, except Manilo…..
In my opinion, best double albums tend to be live ones, some of the studio doubles spreading the talent a little thin. Of these, Space ritual has been mentioned, but what about Live and Dangerous, Bursting Out, Weld, Babylon by bus, It’s Alive…..the live list is pretty much endless. Beecham plays Delius is a great classical double, and The Wall is an absolute stand out as well. Easily the best thing Floyd ever did. Newer stuff, fifty words for snow is a good bet if you like Kate Bush. I also listen to a lot of folk and blues, where double albums tend to be a little rarer unless they are reissues or best ofs. Oh, and does Second Winter, by the great Johnny Winter count? It’s three sides on two discs…..
Got all this, and a good 1500 others, on vinyl, by the way. Music and painting little blokes seems to go together.
