Well, it has been a VERY long time since I posted anything. I have been working insane hours trying to keep our little 3-man company alive and don't know how much longer that's going to be true. From the beginning of the year, there was about a 6 month patch where I didn't even know my paint room existed ... I finally decided it was time to put a little balance back in my life and have painted up a few things. They are probably a tad hurried, but it was really fun to get back to the hobby.

Here is Ksitigarbha, a very wild kit from the Siji Bros. It's a pretty complex sculpt to say the least. My understanding of the kit (having done a little reading on Ksitigarbha) is that he was a Buddhist monk? who on his quest to become Buddha had to clear out all the inhabitants of hell. At first, I thought this must mean he was some badass who was going through hell, kicking butt, but then as I read more and looked at the sculpt more, I ran w/ the thoughts of him taking on the pains of those in hell to relieve them of their misery and thus clear out hell. I don't know if any of it is right, but I thought that explained all the pain and suffering he is clearly enduring as his spine is splitting and all the boils and things on his body. Any way, enough of that ... here are some pics and a link to more.

thanks for looking,
jim

You do realize if you are lucky enough to cross the great Buddha on your path," you must kill him"

All that aside a great piece of work.

Amazing - I never heard of the Siji Bros before but this is very much in the Takeya/ Nirasawa vein.
Beautiful painting job too
