After years of painting figures and using them in my photography, I finally decided to make my first proper diorama. I started teaching myself how to sculpt figures about a year ago, and I'd reached the point where I felt that I could tackle an ambitious project. After a bit of research I decided that the final moments of the opera Pagliacci could make an interesting subject for a box diorama.

Most of the time involved in this project was spent sculpting the 26 figures that were used for this diorama. I wanted to have the scene take place some time around 1890 and I will say that I really enjoyed sculpting all the bustle dresses and ladies' hats.

Hi there

Great to see you posting, well done on the sculpting and a unusual subject but very impressive , all figures look very individual and work well together to depict the scene

Nice lighting on the actual stage as well

Unsure of the story in the opera but going to listen to it later

Perhaps you might explain it here , the foreground figures seem to be very involved as a result of the on stage action

IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY WHY NOT ENTER a piece into the class of your choice in AUG/SEPT FOTM here: :)(y)
