Guy,

Your painting of this figure is amazing.
But i have a question about the left leg: You are not the sculptor but I must ask it...The left leg is at the part above the Knee (femur) to long in my opinion and it is curved. I have tried this a several time's but i cannot curve my femur.
Also the muscle's didn't show as this figure.
So please tell me, is it the angle of the picture or is it the sculpting???

Hello Guy,

I´m glad you are feeling better.

Your Lakota Warrior looks pretty good !!! I like him very well. Especially the warpaint comes along very powerful.

I´m looking forward to see him finished.

The best wishes,
Markus

Hello Guy

it is good to hear that you are feeling better.

I like your painting of the warrior and it looks pretty good. It is correct, that the lost battalion will sell this kit in future, after you had paint it for the box??

And when this is correct, do you know when it will be??

Thanks a lot and I am waiting for more pics to see it finished

Greetings

Ulrich

Thanks for the feedback guys........I appreciate it.

gary ~ From what I have read the Native Americans painted their horses prior to battle of for a ceremony or parade.

Marc ~ I think it is a combination of sculpting and light as the actual figure does not look that Curved as it may appear in the photo. It is not a very muscular sculpt which makes it even harder to paint too.

Ulrich ~ This figure will be released in about a month. It was delayed due to me having the flu and not being able to meet the January 1st deadline that I had to complete it. Unlike the original release that came with no paperwork or instructions this figure will have a complete painting guide and instructions on assembly. This will be written using this sbs as a guide when the figure is complete.

Thanks again.

Very nice, Guy! The figure and horse are gorgeous.

I think the reason why the leg looks "curved" is because the sculptor has wisely compensated the rider's leg muscle's straddling an un-giving object underneath.

Having been on a horse a couple times, I can remember my upper legs bulging to the top. It was a "different" sensation for someone that dosn't regularly ride horses.

Just checking in on this one now...

No comments on the painting other than I always like your amerind skin tones and war paint...

I do notice one thing from the photos in regard to the shield. It seems like the cloth strips that hang from the shield are sorta defying gravity? I would tend tend to think that they would hang a bit more straight down toward the base. Sorta follow the leg "line" of the seated figure? Perhaps it's the photo...

Anyway... :)

Thanks for the feedback Keith and Jason.

I have painted all the accessories and have started attaching to the Indian and the horse. The one nice thing about this figure is that it has extra accessories ( feathers, trade cloth, bow case fringe, etc,) that each painter can add to customize his own figure.

Here is a progress shots of where the Lakota is now.

Bow case and quiver attached and strap around chest attached first.

I attach all the accessories with 2 part 5 minute epoxy. Alot of mixes have been done for this fellow.

A mini-clothespin is used to clamp the feather in place while the epoxy sets.

Here is where the Lakota is this afternoon with the smallest of parts to add and touch-ups will start later today.

The painting guide will be done afterwards and then the release date will be decided.

Guy, The figure is really coming together nice. A mounted figure is quite a project to dive into, and I'm sure your sbs will help make the approach a little easier for someone contemplating a mounted figure.~Gary

Thanks for the feedback Gary. I hope the sbs will help those who are comtimplating a mounted figure. So many painters I have talked to have never done a mounted figure because of the horse and the complexity of some of the kits. Lets hope this will motivate them to take the challenge and try one.

Yes, you motivated me to do a mounted figure, so i ordered the Mounted Teutonic Knight from Pegaso.

Hello Marc,

Glad to hear you are going to be doing a mounted figure. They just take a little longer and there are more steps to get the completed figure as compared to a single foot figure. Just take your time and I am sure with your skills.......it will be a beautifull figure when its done.

WOW what a project! I have to admit, my favorite part of this massive project has to be the smallest detail, the beadwork. Although a bit lost in the overall pics, in person it just makes this one for me! Guy as always, fine work! I'll be over to give my final approval in person! ;)

This is the first step of the Lakota and now I will finish the groundwork to the edge of the base. The final step is delivery to a collector in Baltimore.

Guy, Nice job on the indian. Now you have ALL this freed up time. What's next besides the Chief Joseph flat?~Gary

Thanks Gary & Ernest for the feedback. I have 2 more box arts to go yet. One is the Landsknecht by Regt S4 and an 80mm Celt for The Lost Battalion. After those two are done..........a long break for the figures I want to do.
