It's difficoult writing something different from the others... I can only echo all the comments and tell you I've never seen a bust painted in a so fantastic manner as you did !!

Awesome, did you do this with acrylics? If so, how do you apply the paint, how much diluted I mean. I work with Vallejo, so I hope to learn from this.
 
I am almost finished with this bust now, I have added a patterning to the purple and have finished off the hat, just the hair and beard to do next, I have been worried about getting that right so have been practising that on some thing else, I can also see I need more work on the shirt that I will fix at a later date aswell......

Looking superb Dave ,the work on the purple is very nice.Have made a start on my example of this fine bust, so will post soon and you can let me know what you think.

Excellent work Dave.
Made the pic's fullscreen it is lifelike.
I really like that pattern on the shirt. Looks like embroidery..Excellent.
I think i gonna put mine away for some years untill i'm this bust worth for painting.

Thank you very much guys, its very much appreciated.....

Its basically there now, with just a little touch up here and there in a week or so and a pale green light wash to the blond hair.......

I hope it looks OK, as the first picture looks a little light
