Been making some items to go into my latest 1/16 Scene depicting Boudicca.

Made mostly from scrap plastic card based on Celtic designs from the period. The Curved bladed Falcata sword is an oddity, a gift from the chiefs from the Iberian Celtic people. One of her daughters wears the feathers on her helmet to identify her nobility and the younger daughter will be with a Celtic design ceremonial horn. The Carnyx horns were ornately designed on mythical beasts.

My first go sculpting the female form, it’s at an early stage. One of the two daughters of Boudicca. She will be adorned in loose fitting dress and cape, bedecked in jewellery befitting a member of royal family.

Even at this stage it looks fantastic. The volume, quality and speed of your work are just amazing.

Oda.

This is nothing short of astounding and the significant difference between an 'artist' and a 'hobby painter'.

Stunning work Marcus!

Thank you, I do like to recreate what I have in my head scene wise rather than be dictated by another artists vision or figure. Still loads to learn from the good guys on this site and others, but it’s all part of the fun.

Marcus

WOW !! I don't know where to start ......true modelling mate ......what's not impressive !

Love the shields especially the way you've done the damage on the roman , weapon shapes look really good as does the Carynx

Nice start on the feet as well ...always pushing yourself

I thought the last was good this will be even better

Personally I wouldn't put too much jewellery on the ladies , think the helmets and equipt will show the high status

Whatever you decide ...I am right here ......wishing I was as talented !

Happy benchtime

Thank you kind sir. No, I’ve not seen the Mike Blank composition before, it looks great. I’m assuming 54mm? To me his scene describes the Iceni sacking of Camulodonum. The last stand of the IX legion I created depicts a small aspect of that same battle prior to the city being levelled by rampaging Celtic warriors. Great to see others take on this period and will use the painting of the figures as reference for my own.

With regard jewellery, I agree. Less is more but will add some neck Torc’s and bracelets. Want to add a couple of tattoos as well when I get to the painting stage. For now I’m enjoying the sculpting.

Thanks mate, that made me chuckle. It’s my feminine side coming out lol (should have been a dress maker).

Really enjoy the process of working with Greenstuff and either magic sculpt or Apoxie putty. You have to work quickly but it suits my style. Also, less is more, so best to work small areas as it saves ruining areas already sculpted.

cheers.
