Hi there ,

A very nice subject and sculpting , I like the smile he has and definately not a subject I have seen before.

Lets hope there is more from Legacy Miniatures

Thanks for posting

Nap

Very original subject, and a very good sculpture !
But I can't see a price for this beauty ? How much will it cost ?

... of course I'm also wondering : is "digitally sculpting" less labour intensive as putty-pushing ? and will therefor the price of a master be less ? and will this reflect in an overall lower cost price of this bust ?

Given that this is "digital sculpted" I am amazed about the character of the face and the overall apperance. This is of course not a kind of bust that will get "boring / another one"-comments. Hopefully the praise will turn into profit for the creators.
Cheers, Martin

I did hear that the possibilities of what can be done with digi-sculpting and 3D printing are very good at least - there's no reason why such a figure or bust should not have "character" :) we may be looking here at the future of sculpting historical miniatures.
I've no idea how it actually works but I guess if the input the program gets is from a brilliant sculptor, then the output will be just as brilliant.

I only would expect the price to be significantly lower than a bust that is sculpted the traditional way, as this is less labour intensive and takes much less time (I believe someone told me it took a week or so to digisculpt a bust).

You are absolutely right Johan, maybe because I have just a rough idea how digital sculpting works I am surprised that the result of that method is already so advanced. It is hard to sculpt a lifelike face showing character and emotion. If a computer is doing it so well what will be next?

Next ? Digipainting your digisculpt maybe ?

Although that doesn't mean we're all going to be masters in an instant : the computer can only produce what you put in the program, so :
1) it will only produce a good digisculpture if you're a talented sculptor yourself
2) it will only digipaint properly if you're a good painter yourself - the computer doesn't know colours and doesn't know where to put them, that's for you to tell him.

Just did some quick research - I'm a little bit worried about the shape of the helmet on this bust - see these photos.
I suppose the Greeks were issued french Adrian helmet with Greek national insignia as in these photos ? The shape of the helmet on the bust doesn't match the Adrian accurately, the rim is much too narrow in front and behind. It wouldn't take too much work for the manufacturor to correct it, though, just some work on the rim of the helmet. Otherwise this is a great sculpt.

Hi Johan,
The rim in front and behind is not so narrow as it looks in the painting photos.Propably because of the ancle of the shooting.I'll try to shoot some photos placing the camera on the top of the helmet.Weathering also (dark brown/black on the edges) is redusing the size of the helmet for the eye.
Regards
Chris

Just when I decided to take a short break from painting figures (and work on a 1/48 airplane kit) Legacy Miniatures had to go and issue this great bust with such an original concept!!! I'm already clearing up my workbench to make room for this beauty.

Well done Zacharias and the rest of your team.

N.
