Hi,
this is one of my latest works: A light Infanteryman of Prince Eudes army at the battle of Poitiers 732 AD. This one was made after the Osprey Book "Poitiers AD 732". It's Magic Sculp with a Hornet head (so it's more 50mm then 54mm). Shield and Axe are scratch from plastic sheed and wire. This one will jump over a fallen tree or something. I know that there are some anatomical problems but I did my best:) And this is also the first figure I primed with a primer-spray.

Prince Eudes made a flanking attack on the Muslim Camp where the Muslim Commander Abd al-Rahman al-Ghafiqi was killed. There for he used light infantery and/or Cavalry because he had to cross a very wild field (that's why the muslims didn't expect an attack from that side).

I know that I have to improve the anatomy in my next figures but I hope you like it anyway! Comments and Critiqs are welcome!

Lennart,
Not bad for first time :) Trick is not to get discouraged ;)
Your next figure will be even better and there is no better place to learn about sculpting but this site.
Cheers,
A.

Hello Lennart,

We are all learning. Yours is very interesting as it is unique - a one-off figure! rgds Victor

Update:

Hi,
I painted the clothing of the figure, the head got his basecolour. I painted the clothing with oils, the shoes, the flesh/head and the belt is missing. I'm just searching for a good 8th century heraldy, then I'll finish the shield.

Hi Lennart,

8th century? You may want to keep the "heraldry" simple. Note that he is a foot soldier, so generally, quarters of red/white on a round shield are common.

Thanks for your comments Guy, Marc and Victor.

@Victor: Yes I think it will be a red circle or quarter. I've got the Osprey book and it shows no "real" heraldy (like a lion or something). So I will search in the internet a little bit and if I don't find anything it will be a circle or quarter.
