Jim,

I cannot upload pictures here on the Workbench area. So I'll post my comments on the Sculpting Contest thread. See ya there.

Well guys, couldn't leave well enough alone!

With all the excellent advice and comments from the forum (especially Quang ), took out the dremel and did some carving and resculpting. Still isn't anywhere near, but I did try to incorporate your thoughts and observations as a learning experience.

Front view...

Tried to correct overall 'squattiness' of the head. Added to the forhead and took some off the cheekbones, and jaw line. Also resculpted the ear (now it's too small! Oh well... :(). Redid the hair too. Filled in the corners of the eyes as well, so they didn't look so deep set. Thinned out the nose as well.

Side view...

Increased the slope of the forehead (still not enough?) Re-worked the back of the head to show the neck. Added to the girth of the chest (gave him lungs! ;) ).

3/4...

This has been a great learning experience for me and I'm VERY grateful for all the help and encouragement I've received. Any additional thoughts, comments or critiques are, as always, welcome and appreciated. Hopefully I'll have him painted soon and I'll post the finished product.

Jim, Fantastic! What makes this site so great is not only the willingness to try one's hand at something different, but to take "constructive advice" on how to approach a project. I really like the encouragement that is given to those showing work. Some get to a show every now and again, others are far removed from the exhibitions, which makes this the next best thing, providing an instant audience to our stuff. Keep it up Jim.~Gary

Hey Joe

I have followed this thread and the others about this competition and they all look great, you have all got more guts than me, I couldn't sculpt to save my life.
