Just a brief report on the Long Island show which took place this last Saturday. No pics sorry.
Mike Blank won best in show with his shadow box of Joan of Arc. An incredible piece of work. It was really nice to be able to spend a few minutes chatting with Mike. He's very gracious with his time and tips.
Dan Capuano won for best diorama with his absolutely incredilbe Germany Surrending piece. Over 50 figures in the piece! The pictures of this diorama that you see online do not do it justice.
There were some great individual pieces.
The show, however, seems to be getting smaller each year. a few less In fact, take away the plastic kit entries and the show could be held in someone's living room. No knock on the organizers who I'm sure work hard to put it all together. Greg DiFranco, Jack Muldoon, Ric Girardin and Kevin Dunne are all great guys and talented artists. There work certainly keeps me inspired.
There were alot of vendors selling the pre-painted russian figures.
Mike Blank gave an hour long presentation on animating figures. Very fascinating and than to Mike for answering all our questions.
