Don't know if it's just me, but the NMM on the braiding seem to be not quite right. Could be my technique or maybe it's the size of the figure not to sure

Paul,

This is starting to come together , as said the busby was brown ....as for the NMM I would shadow it a bit more and then put more highs on ?...what colours are you using?

I think it will all come together with the rest of the lacework done!!!!

I have the bust version off Paget ...in the long line heading towards the Kolinsky!!!

Thanks for sharing

Nap

Cheers Nap, i havnt done NMM for ages but i use a base of green ochre and then sandy browns for low lights and pale yellows for the highs, but ive done this various ways making it darker or lighter and its still not looking right :(, i may have to resort to getting the gold out

Does anyone else think he looks like Christopher Plummer when he played Wellington  anyway any help on the NMM would be appreciated or the gold comes out.
Be great to see your version Nap when you get around to it

Paul

I've got to say the face is excellent, I'm very impressed, very good flesh tones.(y)

Keep up the good work.

Malc

Stephan many thanks

Malc coming from yourself thats praise indeed :)

Ed cheers

Right guys some help needed here, ive been having a crack at the braiding on the legs with disasterous results, these pics are the third effort, it seema whatever colours or however i show the highlights on this part it doesnt look right, anybody got any ideas :(

Thanks Malc, yeah changed it slightly. i use a black primer and base coat and life colour acrylics flesh set with several more shades added, they blend very well and dry to a total matt

Paul,

What don't you like about the legs braiding ......possibly break up the highlights rather than have a block if you understand my poor description,,,

I would possibly shadow the right hand side as you look at it with some small touches of highs and the highs on the left being brighter

Looking forward to more from you on this

Nap

Cheers Nap, it just didnt look right, it looked better on the pic than it did sat on my bench, anyway i may have solved it, i went out and bought some new paints. a few shades from Citidel, sandy colours and im much happier with the results now

bit of tidying up to do but a better overall effect

Paul

As you know I paint in oils over an acrylic base, recently I switched to scale 75 color, looks like it'll be worth picking up some Lifecolour paints to try too.
I hope you are bringing this to Euro.

Malc

Cheers Malc I have been very pleased with the sets I have. This probably won't be at Euro as its a commission
