If I threw paint like that, I'd miss. Great stat Colin. One thing I can never get right is the hair colour's, any tip's. ;)
Regards

Looks good Colin... the eyes are near perfect.

Are you going to start a new thread for painting or carry on here... just need to know where to look to continue following this great project.

Colin

Thanks Colin. I think I will paint him here.

I still need to trim one of his pupils and add some red ink to the corners of his eyes. It always amazes me how different an undercoated sculpt looks with some colour added.

Very nice eye's.(y)
I don't know about anyone else, but I have been staring at these painted pics for a few minutes now,and there are quite a few similarities to how you look in your avatar.;)

Ralph - They say we tend to draw, paint and sculpt our own features as that is what we are most familiar with :)

Bob - I usually start dark on the hair and build up to light. I will try to remember to add colour info as I paint him. I used to paint the hair mid-tone and then glaze or wash in the darks. Gave up on that though.

That's a superb final version of this bust. The back of the chair really sets the pose.
As for your start on the painting, I think Colin put it quite succinctly when he said the eyes were near perfect.

Cheers,
Andrew

Cool start, Colin!
Oils are perfect for this BIG boy, but if the acrylic paints are calling, why not! You are handling both with great, great craftsmanship.
Cheers and I'm following!
Zeno :)

Some more flesh tones and inks - all flesh and browns so far. First time using slow dry medium too. Still far to go on the head.

And I selfie to indicate the size of this magnum bust.

Colin I'm glad you didn't give up on this guy. The paint is really bringing him to life. A very nice start. and quick too.

Hey Colin I've been sitting back watching. And admiring the progress of the piece.

Although some have said make him more reaxed etc I prefer this more formal pose.

I would imagine many people of the period would be stiff and formal as sitters,
the painter would relax him in the actual portrait.
I think you have him perfectly posed, as usual...
And I'm sick of it really..
It's disgraceful that you are so good at this :)

LOVE IT

Paul

Coming along Really well there Colin.:)
I can really appreciate now,the size of the bust.
