Many thanks Kev, I was wondering about the medals, I could just about work out the left and right one but the middle was a mystery, so this will be immensely helpful.

I have just this morning carved the knots off and I'm in the process of repainting the sleeves ready to start detail painting.

The little lady (orc, goblin or troll depending on mood) spent the day at Marwell Zoo yesterday with her parents so I wonder what animal she'll feel like being today, three toed sloth would be nice.

Cheers Simon

I think you're painting faster than our Nap. :D
Another unusual uniform, looking good so far.

Cheers Malc, I like the unusual! Less surface area to cover, the paint dries quicker.

Will you be at North Surrey this coming Saturday? Would be good to meet especially at a good show.

I survived the party only 3 kids and a baby so it could have been worse.

She was on form, full cartoon Tasmanian Devil mode in a pretty red dress.

nice going-I wouldn't dare try free-handing those austrian knots, though

I realised in doing this I may jeopardise the whole project but the original knots really were pretty awful. Breaking the knot down to basic shapes helped and measuring the spaces they should take up was necessary. Even then the left hand one took two attempts. What I'm not looking forward to is using metallic paint on them, still if it was easy it wouldn't be half as much fun!

Cheers Simon

hahaha, great survive ,but beautiful picture, your figure is also very nice already, great job (y)

Mario

LOL, she is a cutey really, just tires me out. Thanks for your comment on my figure, painting the sleeve knots has just made finishing it a lot harder!

Hi Simon

Those knots look really well shaped , a good base for the next step

Have a coffee and biscuit , take a deep breath and away you go......

Look forward to more on this and seeing what else is marching around your bench

Have FUN

Cheers Kev, it's going to be a difficult job especially in metallic with lots of touch ups and red's. He'll get there though.

This is looking like an excellent learning exercise. It seems to be working so far.....

And you survived a kid's party. Well done :)

Cheers Nigel, it's going to be a challenge in my neatest painting but I see no reason why I won't get it done.

The party wasn't too bad, the hardest part was being the designated driver, could even have a drink!

Today I have mostly been sniffing with this rotton cold, managed to paint a bit though. I started glazing on the trousers, pale grey almost white looking at the reference art work, I'll probably have to revisit a time or two. Then I tidied up the Austrian knots on his sleeves and added the metallic silver. Still.need some refinement and taking the sheen off of the silver but it's a start.

I've been working slowly and carefully on the tunic, especially the arms. I've got the braid as thin as I want it now I need to build the silver back up into some highlights and probably some more work on the trousers.

On the trousers I have been laying in glazes using a 10/0 spotter brush. Not much in the way of a point and very short bristles but finding it gives good control.
