A little time ago, Ive the pleasure to put some WIPs of a SAS Great Hero, Maj. Lassens...

After all of you gives inputs, advices, tips, we do the work, try to improve to develop a excellent piece... This is just WIP´s, and once again, all critics, comments and tips are welcome...

Few days ago I bought Lord Lovat's bust which I am waiting to see .
Ussually I am modelling wwi German themes but this was too good to let it go by....
Now this one probably will be my second bust in these magnificent series of yours....

I would work on the wooden stock, the relief of the grain is heavily over done.
Otherwise it looks great.

Parachute/SAS wings are worn on the right shoulder 6cms from the top, otherwise looks good.

I read somewhere that they had specifically requested the right to wear the wings on the chest. Not sure why. Nice sculpt, loving the textures. Is the beret a bit full on top?

Lassens beret was quite large and not shaped ,unlike today's versions .

The beret is being taken down slightly before casting ..thanks for the comment myself and Hugo appreciate all.

Hi Bob ,

You are correct that in today's dress they wear the wings on the arm , n WW2 they asked to wear them above the pocket but as with everything variations have been seen but Lassen definitely wore his there.

In WW2 French para trained personnel have been seen wearing Brirtish wings above

I think other countries wings ie US/ German/French etc are generally worn on the right above the pocket on modern uniforms

No probs on raising this it was an enjoyable hour checking my references and it's what PF is all about

For excellent further reading on WW2 insignia of SF I fully recommend this great book
