Some shots of the current state of things. Some more tweaking of the moko, the pounamu ornaments for the ears added and painted and the feathers painted up as well.

Think we're on the home stretch wih this one, at least with my current skill set.

Cheers,
Brian

Great work on the tattoos Brian. Well done.
I'm absolutely gobsmacked how this has developped. First-class painting. Can't wait to see the final result.

That turned out great! Congrats on a job well done (almost...)!
Adrian

Thanks all - very encouraging and kind comments. A few more tiny tweaks ('cause you just can't stop messing about with it!) and he's headed for the base. Will post up some "glamour shots" when all's done.

You gotta be proud of this Brian.
Minor suggestion mate would be to lighten white tips of feathers help frame this warrior.
Well done mate!
MikeTheKiwi

Will do, Mike; great suggestion and thanks for all the guidance on this. Hopefully have done something that gives a respectful nod to both the casting and the people it represents.

Cheers,
Brian

Hi Brian

My thought is a little more fading and highlights on chin but overall very minimal work needed

You've done a great SBS here and it's been fun to follow ...all credit to you

Once your happy do share the next on the bench

Happy benchtime

Thanks, Nap - was kinda bugged by that chin - will give it a bit of a fade.

Thanks for the kind comments as well - it's been a challenging but enjoyable project. Hope it made a good project to follow along with.

Cheers,
Brian

Looks good to me though extra fading on Ta Moko would help blend it more into face Brian.
Ref Dullcote - I do like the soft sheen on flesh vs cloak mate.
Is it necessary?
MikeTheKiwi

Thanks, Mike - working on the fading as we speak - we'll see how it goes.

Toying with leaving the skin sheen as is - it does look pretty neat as is, although I don't relish trying to tone down the glossiness of the ear ornaments while leaving the flesh as is.

I think I'm kinda at that stage I get to where I start getting a bit reticent about pushing things too much and blowing the final result.

Thanks though for the food for thought - I might just need the extra courage, if you've got any to spare :)

Cheers.

I'm not sure I could add anything, but awesome! Superb brush work, Buddy!

This is so realistic, it's spooky, IMHO. I think the eyes tend to draw you into that facial expression, very well done.

Thanks again, Ski - really encouraging.
