Hello Folks
After seeing some of the great sculpts and painting of some 1/6th scale models on PF by Colin (CRF) and Tony Dawe I asked Moz to sculpt a 1/6th scale British Army Northern Ireland figure as a presentation piece. He has chosen his old mob as the subject and I've dusted off my brushes and had a bash at painting one.
Cheers
Gordon

Very nice work Gordon, those flesh tones look really nice :)

Gordon with this standard of painting you are going to be busy painting all your box arts!!!

Very well done.

Peter.

A very nice "Budgie", superb flesh tones and the DPM is excellent. I had a few friends who served with these in the 70s.

Hello Folks
Many thanks for the encouraging words which are much appreciated. I haven't had a chance to paint much recently but am hoping to do a bit more in the future. These 1/6th figures are very large , as Colin mentioned about 300mm tall. Being so large they aren't everyones cup of tea but I certainly enjoyed this one and can see the attraction in them.
I'm hoping to get this figure produced in cold cast bronze as a presentation piece and will be able to add other units which served in Northern Ireland by a a simple alteration of the cap badge. Glengarry or TOS would also be an option for the Scottish infantry regiments but I will see how things go. I've already had a few enquiries about kits and will be casting a few to in resin for anyone interested. They are a fair old chunk weighing about 800 gremmes and as the body and legs are cast as one piece excess resin needs to be removed from recesses but the end result is pretty impressive. For the resin version the price is £75 which includes postage. I'm also looking at a bust version.
If anyone wants to order one please drop me a line on [email protected]
Cheers

That's really cool. Terrific paint and sculpture. Oils or acrylics? Perhaps variant head gear available?

And Thanks for kind words.

Colin
I've never been able to master oils and only use acrylics, having said this I always think faces painted in oils look so much better and have a jewel like quality to them.
Cheers

Bloody hell Gordon.

That is some excellent brushwork there.
The flesh tones and eyes are terrific.
Great camo and colours and tones go together really well.
