Hi all. I will try my first attemp with bust. I will do that with the Young B Song kit modelled for Taisho models and distributed by Miniatured Park (thanks Mr. Kiuchi for this bust!).

Please let me know your comments because I must improve my way of painting bust. I will learn from you!!

Lovely flesh tones Rafael so far. I really like the bust. I can't wait to see it all finished.

Rafael, this bust is very difficult to realize because (for me) it's not very expressive. Your painting is beautiful, your lights are right. If you paint a tunic in warm colors with a beautiful heraldic to give more attraction to this sculpture. I'm sure that you will make a very beautiful bust ;)

Thanks you for your comments friends!. I am not sure at this time about what kind of heraldry I must use. Yesterday I saw an example with blue and yellow (a half in each color) with a lion or similar in red. Do you have any better idea?

Rafa

Rafa,

Looks nice so far. I like the subtle transitions. One thing I noticed is that the iris of the eyes look a little on the small side. There is a bit too much "whites" of the eye visible, perhaps. Keep us posted.

As far as heraldry goes,

here are a whole lot of original examples of coats of arme on this site

Medieval scrolls with images

Each link has a number of coats-pf-arms taken from medieval scrolls.

As far as I know (but I guess many of the posters on this site now far better) these coats of arms were spread out over the chest or even the full length of the coat.

As far as the painting goes, it looks very good so far (that is all I can say). I hope this helps.

Thanks for your kind comments Christos and Artur. I attach some new pics with the progress with the helmet:

Rafael,
I think this guy is looking fantastic! It might be the lighting, but the mail looks kinda shiney from where I'm sitting. Maybe a wash of Tamiya smoke, or some oily black and raw umber washes to tone it down a notch. Great stuff! Keep us posted I want to see him when he is done!
