Completed Michael Wittmann , 120mm bust

This is a very old resin bust of Wittmann which sculptured by Mike Good in 1990s ( I guess ) ， the manufacturer was Kirin . I still could remembered the day I bought it from another modeller ，almost 15 years before , as i still was a college boy. That was my first time to collect figure bust, so this model means a lot for me , although it doesn't looked very well from a present perspective ( Hey , you even not look like Wittmann , bro ) .
I never considered to painted it because I didn't have confidence on myself at all . until I found it in my box this year. when I hold it in my hands and looked it , I just thought that : well, may be I should finish my homework which I should finished 10 years before. for that, I began to painted it, all of the badges, cap emblem , medals ，ect , are painted in NMM way.

the eyes are too small, and he looks too old , so i try to change it with green stuff .

I don't know if anyone still could remember this old band, the Kirin . and the old fashion of cover art .

I don't know if Mr. Wittmann have a freckle face , but I draw some for him.

Since I have been adding to my Gray Army since the early 70's, and still am, I have a lot to paint. The older figures bring back a lot of memories and when done well definitely stand the test of time. This one has definitely been done well.

A couple of questions. Is this all brush work or is it a combination of brush and airbrush? Also, what mediums, acrylic, oil, enamels, etc?

Yes, I agree with you , sometimes I just imagine that the painters who live in 70's --80's maybe have more elegant life than me, after all , they could spend more time in painting and reading instead the cellphone or video games. when I look an old model , I feel I could make relationship with senior.

OK , for the questions.

1, this is all brush work , except the undercoat，I spary black of gamesworkshop as primer . because I think the covering and firmness of the base series are enough for me in this case.
I prefer brush work to spary work ，may be just kind of psychological cause . when I hold the brush I feel I hold all the cards , doesn't like use the airbrush, I feel like there are someone push me, and I don't like the noise of the air pump at all.

2, I use the acrylic only these years. because I love it no smell, and dry fast . in this case , i use both VJ and GW paints.

Yap , you are right , Marc , I think may be because of the shape of the eye balls not perfect , when I painted them , I always feel them not red enough during work , but it have too much in fact.

Wow Eric, you echo my thoughts exactly, except I use a different primer and also Reaper paints in addition to the VJ and GW. Great minds think alike.

Some people love an airbrush and do fantastic things with it, but I'm an old fashioned brush man myself.

What great timing .I have the same Kirin bust and have been really struggling with it.So I'll pinch a couple of ideas of yours if that's ok?
A couple of questions Do you have any in progress photos of thee the steps you used for correcting the eyes? if not could you let me how you did it ? I've ruined a couple of othe busts trying to redo the eyes and the scar below the lower lip did you add that?

Great to hear you use only brushes.I'm one of the " elegant" oldies you speak of.I use exclusively oils,but your work with the acrylics is superb.
