Mike sent me an email asking me to post photos of his recent figures he had on display at the Long Island show last weekend.

I really like Mike's work. If there is something I don't like about them it's the minimal amount of groundwork. It just seems to leave way too much of the top of the base exposed.~Gary

Dear friends
Thanks for the kind words! I agree with you Gary, there are a lot of "bare base" showing! The reason for this is that the bases where a little too big for adding groundwork to the outer edges (this would show a lot of groundwork and thereby outbalancing the figure)... a decision made out of my limted collection of bases and sizes! I normally add groundwork "all the way"!
Mike

Yes, indeed they are all Swedes!
From top to bottom:
Royal Suedois regiment 1762
Light dragoon officer 1809
Line infantry man 1809
Guard grenadier 1809
Happy modelling
Mike

Thanks for sending those Mike, and thanks for posting those Guy. :)

All are very nice, of course, but I think I like the Guard grenadier best. There's just something about the pose that gives him a lot of personality. And of course the big diorama in the other post is amazing. I'm just happy I got to see it in person! (y)

Regards,
Wendy

Mike, It does makes sense if the base is too big for the figure, thus the figure might be lost being based on twice as much landscape.~Gary

Hey Mike,

Really nice work, now tell the truth the....the reason for lack of ground work is there is more time to spend with some little Daddy's girl? ;)

Will you make Atlanta this year?

All the best to you,

Joe
