G'day Mike, exceptional paint job mate.
Couple of questions, Vic, he is wearing the Lemon squeezer, is this correct for Gallipoli? I always assumed (I know, don't assume anything), that the Lemon squeezer was introduced after 1916?
Archie, we would have called him "Blue".
Cheers Jason

Thanks Jason good to get feedback from you, glad you like them.

Good question on lemon squeezer.
Legend is Col Malone introduced this around time of Gallipoli & officially adopted in 1916

Evidence of it being worn in contemporary photos by Kiwis on the peninsula.
Along with lots of messy, loose looking slouch hats. Next figure, a Maori, has a less formal slouchie too :)
Some examples here from Nat Library

Helpful?

Stay safe,
Mike

Another perfectly finished one.
I particularly like the way you've painted the ginger hair on the arms, not to mention a superb graze on the right arm.
Each time I look at it I find something new to admire.

Cheers,
Andrew

Thanks Andrew these photos help show detail I've tried to replicate which is easily missed when looking at the figures themselves.

Had a red haired mate when I was a young soldier & recalled his gingery arms so trried to capture that look.

Stay safe,
Mike

The textures are great Mike! Following with great interest!
Cheers,
Zeno :)
Thank you Zeno, keep, trying to make these textures effective & natural.

Top stuff, Mike. Brilliant textures as always.
Can't wait to see all these figures come together, it's going to be a beaut vignette.
Cheers
Appreciate it Nick :)
Working on last little guy & plan to start assembling them on their base next week.
Got some actual Chunuk Bair soil to add to the groundwork for a special touch too.

Stay safe guys,
Mike

Absolutely superb painting ,the only thing missing is the smell of battle .
Excellent.

Grateful for you ongoing support Bob,
Though wouldn't even want to imagine "the smell of battle"
It was hell with almost every soldier suffering dysentery, casualties left unburied & washing a luxury.
Let alone animals, explosives, mud etc.
It doesn't near thinking about mate.
Oh peace has the sweetest smell...

I've just caught up with Willie, and the group.
All I can say is Wow! ..... this vignette is turning into a true stunner.

Cheers,
Andrew

These are totally awesome ,Mike!
In my ignorance I assumed they were 120mm, then I thought maybe 75mm, and then I checked out The Fusilier website..........
1/32 scale WOW!
I do agree with Kiwi45, though,in that I would love to see your treatment of Andy Cairns' Gallipoli charge figures- what a combination that would be.
Obviously you have already explained why you might not, but please take it as the compliment it is intended to be to both of you.
Fantastic, inspirational stuff - keep it up.

Thanks M for taking time to comment.
yep they are tiny little guys relative to my earlier busts or 1/6th projects.
I do like though the smaller scale, quicker to paint up & neat challenge to get personality, grit, gunge etc. into this scale.

Had a chance to see Andy's diorama last month when he visited, a neat display but way to ambitious for me at present.
Like Bond though - never say never ;)

Stay safe,
Mike
