WOW
I agree with Blind Pew... Best figure of the year so far... But I think it will be hard to beat, even if the year is 24 months long.
Great colours, patterns, very crisp and the icon pennant is amazing!

Beautiful work

Colin

That is a stunning piece of work Marc,I think the red clothing against the black horse looks great, beautifully painted and the standard also looks great, congratulations :)

It's hard to say how good this is without swearing. How do you get such control of oils to do such fine freehand work? I'm still learning with oils but I couldn't dream of doing fine sharp lines like this.

Thanks for sharing this masterpiece,
Billy (y)

well, I want to thank all of you, for your great feedbacks! :)
I will not say that it was easy painting this vignette, as it was very time consuming !
I am very pleased that you liked it
thanks for your interest.

cheers

the horseman comes from Romeo models inspired by Igor Dzis' depiction of a Novgorodian mounted sotnik from 1363-1386 taken from a fresco in the cathedral of Uspeniya Bogoroditsi near Novgorod.

the horse comes from Pegaso models - XIV century .
I used illustrations of horses from "kulikovskaya bitva"

to modify the horse accordingly
