Jean-Philippe,

What can i say more than great painting. Great painting on the shield to.
Freehanded painted or drawing in first??
I hope you finish your SBS on this figure because i really wanted to know more about how you did all this amazing painting.

Marc

Glad you like it :)
The design on the shield was free hand painted with oils.
It was easier than I thougt but a little bit tiring for the eyes. I used Magnifying glasses to do this.
I will continue my sbs soon, I have many pictures taken along the painting process. Including the shield...

Jean-Philippe,
VERY nice work here. The groundwork, the shield, the subtle (not bleeding everywhere) wounds and scratches on the legs, perfect! I think the look of urgency on his face is perfected in your painting technique. A nicely rendered piece here! (y) (y)

Excellent painting indeed. There are not many words to say about the suberb job. Way to go Jean-Philippe.

Thanks everybody, I'm glad you like it !
Thanks for all the kind words. :)
Ernest yes it's a 54mm from soldiers the second in the range of the romans. (SR-02).
Andreas you have sharps eyes. Yes there is green and red in my skin tones.
The flesh tones on the face part has already been explained on my sbs and the flesh parts for the rest of the body will be expained in the next step. Of course there are more colors incuded in the mixes than for the face.
I will try to put this online next week. ;)

Man! This is a beautiful paint job for sure. Very interesting that you used reds and greens in the flesh, I especially like the red touches on the knees, a lifelike representation we seldom see. Keep up the great work!

Magnificent!

A remarkable figure.

Can't wait for the rest of the SBS (if you don't mind explain the groundwork besides the colors of this gem).

Congrats!

What will be up next?

Cheers,
Paulo
