Like the hand with pistol pointing out of the top hatch. I like WWI but I would never buy this, even at half price. I would never keep my interest and as a figure modeller, I would expect to SUCK at armour.

First looked at this and thought, "Wow, that's really cool but I probably won't get it. Besides, it's too much money". The more I look at it the more I like it. There's just so much going on. I doubt that there will be a lot seen at shows mostly due to the price but man it would look nice on a table or a case. I think I will probably get this, just not right away.

Fray Bentos was a Mk IV tank and the 'siege' took place at Passchendaele in late August 1917. The tank modelled is a Mk I or II, and at this stage of the war, the Germans would be running from, not crawling all over, the tank. A great idea spoiled by historical inaccuracy. It would be improved if a Mk IV tank was depicted, and Andrea may have more sales if the tank and figures are made individually available. A set of supporting Tommies wouldn't go amiss either.

In the website of Last Cavalry Toys and hobbies the kit is priced 550 USD with free shipping inside USA.
I think U.S. taxes are included.

Beware prices on website catalogues, sometimes it is not explicit if taxes are included or not.
Regards.JM

BTW- This kit is listed on the Andrea USA page as 589.14. USD of course. The painted version can be had for only a little over $3,800,000. Save up those pennies!

See below price on ANDREA´S DEPOT USA web : Sales Taxes and shipping NOT INCLUDED.

So....... 589.14 USD + Taxes + Shipping............... a trinket !! (for Bill Gates of course)

Ha Ha Ha !! It´s a joke.
Best regards

Looks like a copy of what Roger Hurkmans presented last year. So what about copyright of this peace.
Look at google for Roger Hurkmans and you know what I mean.
He did a scratchbuild on this topic.

For talking about copyright.......better with the italian artist FORTUNIO MATANIA.
He was who painted this beatifull illustration showing the heroic resistance of the crew
of a"British tank "swarmed" by german troops.
Mr Roger Hurkmans based his diorama on this picture, like ANDREA has done.
Best regards.
JM

Basically I agree with jositomanito - but I wonder what this copyright-rant is all about. Shall Andrea pay royalties to Roger Hurkmans or are they not allowed to produce this kit since he created this diorama or shall both pay royalties to the descendants of Matania??? Maybe Mr. Trojani knows.... I for my part simply enjoy the creativity of all involved parties:).
Cheers, Martin

Totally agree with you Martin.
Perhaps my bad english has not permitted
to show a "little irony" in my post. Sorry.
Copyright-Yes or copyright-NO will be "the eternal discussion".
In my opinion, models or dioramas based on illustrations or pictures
are OUT of discussion if they are "one of a kind" . But.........if the author
comercialize his work...............THAT THE QUESTION MY FRIEND !!!
Don Troiani opened fire when some "artists" put some figures or dioramas
based in his artworks on the comercial market. Someone more has done that
from then ????? I dont´know. But a little after of that , he opened a "figures line"
based on his works near to "Toy Soldiers" quality.
Good idea: THE MONEY FOR WHO WORKS. Not for Copy or piracy.
Best regards from Spain.
JM

Yes. Ten figures ( eight germans and two british -dead- an infantryman
and a tankman )..........OOOHH....and a hand with a gun pointing out of the top hatch.
( Have you seen it ??? ) I think it is a good detail.
Cheers. JM

"Little irony" did not go unnoticed:). I am afraid that there is no chance to see this scene to be released by Mr. Matania. So I am glad that Andrea stepped into the breach..... Btw IMHO Mr Trojani`s ideas were far better served by the "pirates" than by ERTL back then.
Cheers, Martin

Hi to you all. I'm sorry about the misconvenience. My post was to be a little ironic. Of course, everybody is free to built their things from pictures or paintings. Is this not what more people do.
I would only present mr. Roger Hurkmans as a fine modeller too. To let people here see that such a piece alreay exists.

So Martin, Jositomanito no hard feelings. Cheers and take a cup of tea. ;)
